Medellin is a city that has it all: a vibrant nightlife, a delicious culinary scene, and a friendly population. But if you're new to the city, it can be tough to know where to start. That's where I come in. As your wingman, I'll show you the best of what Medellin has to offer, from the best nightlife spots to the most delicious restaurants.

Nightlife

Medellin is known for its vibrant nightlife, and there's no shortage of great places to go dancing, drinking, and meeting new people. Here are a few of my favorites:

  • El Poblado: This upscale neighborhood is home to some of the city's best nightclubs, including La Macarena, Babylon, and Cocora.
  • Laureles: This bohemian neighborhood is known for its live music venues, including Casa de la Musica and La Pascasia.
  • Belén: This working-class neighborhood is home to some of the city's most authentic salsa clubs, including El Eslabón and Son Havana.

Restaurants

Medellin is also home to a diverse culinary scene, with everything from traditional Colombian dishes to international cuisine. Here are a few of my favorite restaurants:

  • El Cielo: This award-winning restaurant is known for its innovative Colombian cuisine.
  • Carmen: This traditional Colombian restaurant is a favorite of locals and tourists alike.
  • Mondongo's: This casual restaurant is known for its delicious bandeja paisa, a traditional Colombian dish.

Things to do

In addition to its nightlife and culinary scene, Medellin also has a lot to offer in terms of things to do. Here are a few of my favorite activities:

  • Visit the Comuna 13: This once-dangerous neighborhood has been transformed into a vibrant arts and culture hub.
  • Take a cable car ride: The Medellin Metrocable is a great way to get around the city and see the stunning views.
  • Visit the Museum of Antioquia: This museum houses a collection of Colombian and international art.

Getting around

Medellin is a very walkable city, but if you need to get around quickly, there are a few options available. The Medellin Metro is a clean and efficient way to get around the city, and taxis are also readily available.

Where to stay

There are a variety of hotels and hostels in Medellin to choose from, depending on your budget and needs. Here are a few of my favorites:

  • The Charlee Hotel: This luxury hotel is located in the heart of El Poblado.
  • The Hotel San Fernando Plaza: This historic hotel is located in the downtown area.
  • The Casacol Hostel: This hostel is located in the Laureles neighborhood and is a great option for budget travelers.

Safety

Medellin has a reputation for being a dangerous city, but it has made great strides in recent years to improve safety. The city is now much safer than it was in the past, but it's still important to be aware of your surroundings and take precautions to avoid becoming a victim of crime.

Medellin is a city that has something to offer everyone. Whether you're looking for a vibrant nightlife, a delicious culinary scene, or a variety of things to do, you're sure to find it in Medellin. And with me as your wingman, you'll be able to experience the best of what the city has to offer.
